London Employers leading the way in use of Online Recruitment

London employers have continued to expand their adoption of online recruitment, resulting in a 30% increase for the area on the Monster Employment Index since March 2009, twice the national average of 15% growth.

Of nine UK regions monitored by Monster five displayed a rise in opportunities compared to last month.

Graduates Unprepared for Tough Job Market

A totaljobs survey of 500 undergraduates and recent graduates reveals a worrying gap between graduate expectations and the reality of the current jobs market...

  • Only 6% gaining a suitable graduate position matching their qualification.
  • 36% of recent graduates have claimed jobseekers allowance  in the last year (half of these having claimed for over 6 months).
  • 1 in 10 graduates expect a salary of £35,000 in their first graduate position, £10,000 higher than the current average.

Recent figures from the Office of National Statistics show nearly 150,000 graduates have removed themselves from the labour market altogether, preferring further study to delay trying to find a suitable position.

Bad news for recent graduates perhaps, but there is a silver lining for employers. Current graduates are more willing than ever to relocate both abroad and within the UK, and more flexible regarding the sectors they are willing to consider employment in.

NORAS 2010

Each year the National Online Recruitment Audience Survey release up to date information on the UK's leading Job Boards and their audiences. Now in it's 8th year, the survey is the largest of it's kind in Europe and provides an excellent source of information if you are choosing a Job Board or Job Boards to advertise on.

The data is free to view once you have registered at the NORAS site, and this year can be accessed via an interactive online search tool, so you can find specific information without the need to download the entire report.

More than double the amount of Job Boards participated this year compared to 2009, a sign perhaps that they are beginning to recognise the value of this independent data.

Easy Web Recruitment writes for Onrec

Following up on the hugely successfull training sessions that we are continuing to announce new dates for, our Managing director, Adrian McDonagh, has penned an article for Onrec Magazine.  Entitled "Flat Fee Recruitment - The Third Way", Adrian looks at the rapid growth seen by the online recruitment industry over the last 5 years, and the wide range of service providers that have sprung up in that time. From simple CV sifting services to premium service providers like ourselves, the impact of Online Recruitment across UK business is gaining a momentum that belies the lack of media coverage it receives, so what are the origins of flat fee recruitment? And more importantly, whats next for the fastest growing sector of the recruitment industry?

You can read the article in pdf form here: Flat Fee Recruitment - The Third way.
